MATSUMOTO
Matsumoto is a castle city surrounded by mountains in Nagano Prefecture. With one of Japan’s 5 most precious castles, a charming traditional aesthetic and an abundance of fresh flowing natural spring water from the Japanese Alps, it makes for a great short trip from the major cities. At just 2.5 hours from Tokyo and 3 from Osaka, it’s easily accessible and definitely worth a look. Matsumoto is a great base for exploring areas such as Azumino, Kamikochi and Norikura.
