MIYAJIMA
MIYAJIMA
Miyajima is a small, picturesque island about an hour from Hiroshima. This Unesco World Heritage Site is one of the most photographed and visited spots in all of Japan. Undoubtedly, the most famous attraction on the island is the giant, orange Torii Gate, partially submerged in the tide. Back on shore, visitors can mingle with the local deer community and wander the shops. Those interested in the history of the island should check out the Museum of History and Folklore. Miyajima’s forested peaks are perfect for hiking but can also be traversed by cable car. The views are worth the trip either way!
