UJI
UJI
Uji is a small city south of Kyoto most famous for green tea and the UNESCO listed Byodoin Temple. Dating back to the 10th Century, this Buddhist Temple is famously depicted on the 10 yen coin, with a phoenix statue that is also featured on the 10,000 yen note. Uji’s history is also rooted in green tea culture with tea-houses, matcha street food and even the oldest tea shop in Japan. However, there is so much more to see and do in the area.
