WAKAYAMA

WAKAYAMA

Wakayama Prefecture is located in Japan’s Kansai region, nestled at the bottom of the Kii Peninsula. You can easily reach it from Nara, Osaka and even Kyoto. But what makes Wakayama so special? Perhaps it is the sacred mountains, ancient trails, shrines, temples, pristine beaches or hotsprings. It is also famously home to the Kumano Kodo, one of Japan’s 17 UNESCO cultural world heritage sites. This ancient pilgrimage winds through the Kii mountains, connecting the ancient capitals of Nara and Kyoto to various important worship sites. So, check out the articles below for things to do in Wakayama.
