Asakusa Temple - Senso-ji
ASAKUSA
Asakusa Sensoji Temple is one of Tokyo’s most popular tourist hotspots. The area retains an older aesthetic which allows visitors to experience the Tokyo of yesteryear. On any given day, Sensoji Temple and the Nakamise Shopping Street will be bustling with people praying, shopping and eating. However, if this isn’t touristy enough, you could always jump in one of the rickshaws out front. Other popular sights include the Kitchen Street (Kappabashi dori), Tokyo Skytree and the Sumida River Park. Asakusa is also said to be the birthplace of tempura; consequently, you’ll find plenty of tempura shops dotted around. And they’re in fine company alongside the stalwart izakaya and yakitori joints. You could easily spend a whole day exploring this interesting area. However, to help you out, read on for some of our favourite things to do in Asakusa.
